PROGRAMS

Power for All has a commitment to provide a variety of programs to all ages and all abilities. We work in partnership with  health professionals involved in the life of the clients we serve. Pulling from each health professionals’ expertise we are able to bring the best service and ensure a successful, enjoyable and memorable experience for each client.

Our facilitator is an occupational therapist and many of our volunteers come from a clinical background such as physiotherapy, recreational therapy, teaching, psychology, and social work. Our hope at Power for All Adventure Therapy is that adventure is used to provide therapy and to meet treatment outcomes. Our programs are more than the mere experience of being on the water, they are purposeful and aim to challenge each client to reach their fullest potential. A variety of adaptive equipment, adapted instruction and teaching approaches are utilized to ensure each client’s independence and challenge by choice.

Kayaking

Canoes and kayaks are adapted as needed to compensate for any function the paddler has lost due to disability. While an adaptation may be made to the paddle grip or the seating support, the sport of paddling is not changed or adapted.

Self-Reg and Trauma Healing

This program takes place over ten to twelve weeks and it implements sensory enhanced and trauma aware practices to help children and youth to learn about regulation and trauma healing.
